Jersey marked 70 years of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award with a special gathering at Government House. His Excellency and Lady Kyd were delighted to attend this event.
His Excellency presented Luka Ramage (15) the Mitch Couriard plaque for exceptional voluntary service, he praised the teenager for his dedication, Chairman Mike Entwistle explained that Luka also acts as a carer for his siblings, ensuring their school attendance and preparing their meals among other things.
The message, echoed throughout the afternoon, was that while the equipment and routes may change over time, the values of resilience, teamwork and determination that have defined the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award for 70 year remain as relevant as ever.
